Dr. Dallas Bivins has been tabbed the next Head Bowling Coach at Arizona Christian University. His background includes significant experience in Christian ministry, leadership development, teaching, and coaching. While continuing to serve at Gateway Seminary as the Director of the Arizona Campus, Dr. Bivins has taught courses at both the high school and college level in areas of leadership, ministry, biblical studies, management, physical education, and athletic coaching.
Coach Bivins stated, “I am eagerly anticipating this next school year. We’re looking forward to the growth and development of our present bowling team, as well as our future bowling program. Our team will grow spiritually and academically, as well as in their bowling prowess. I consider it a privilege in leading the team to hear God’s voice and discover His will.“
Arizona Christian Athletic Director, Dr. Peter Dryer, commented on Coach Bivins’ hire, “We are thrilled to have Dr. Bivins join the Firestorm Family as Head Bowling Coach. His background in ministry, leadership, and coaching will serve the program very well. He loves the Lord and loves to lead others in competition. Additionally, his understanding of the bowling landscape and connection to the sport in the region will be of great benefit to the student-athletes in the program.”
Coach Bivins earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Gateway Seminary in 2012, and his Doctorate of Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2005. In 1993, Bivins completed a Master’s in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
In addition to his experience in the bowling community, Dr. Bivins has directed, taught, coached and pastored in organizations across Texas, California, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Alaska, and Arizona. He has a passion for studying leadership in the context of great teams, cycling, and spending time with family. Coach Bivins looks forward to the opportunity to grow the bowling program at ACU.
Arizona Christian University Bowling competes as a member of the Collegiate division in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). The 2020-21 season will be the second season for the Firestorm. In its first season, ACU competed in bowling competitions in California, Nevada, and locally in Arizona.
