Kingman: Freshman Jacob Ellis won the Junior Bowler Tour’s Mohave Tournament on November 21, 2020. Head Coach Dallas Bivins commented, “Jacob has really hit his stride. He’s settled into a rhythm with his school and his sport and it’s showing!”

Ellis entered the JBT Mohave tournament with new skills and motivation, overcoming the competition to qualify in second place through the first cut rolling scores of 229, 251, 222, 222, and 231. He advanced to the title match and claimed his first JBT victory with a score of 183.

While Coach Bivins concentrates on the mental and spiritual characteristics of the athlete, Assistant Coach Derrick Bollea has been instrumental in Jacob’s growth in the fundamentals of bowling, understanding the lane’s oil patterns and which ball to use -€“ and when. Bollea celebrated with Ellis, saying, “Jacob’s game has improved dramatically over the past few weeks. He was due for this win.”

Ellis has found community with his team and grown to meet the expectations for a college athlete. With continued improvement and bright future, Coaches Bivins and Bollea look forward to seeing Elis continue to compete for ACU.

The ACU Bowling team is not currently in team competition because of the pandemic, but several of the players continue to compete in various individual tournaments such as the Junior Bowlers’ Tour. Look for the team to resume competition during spring semester in the USBC (United States Bowling Congress).
