Alley Toppers’ season ends at MSC Tournament

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Blue Mountain Men’s Bowling season came to an end here Friday night at the MSC Championship.

Bethel (Tenn.) went undefeated on day one of the Mid-South Conference Men’s Bowling Championships at Southern Lanes

Each match consisted of a best of seven baker style bowling.

The first round of team play began with a pair of upsets as 13th-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) defeated No. 4 seed Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 4-1. No. 11 seed Blue Mountain secured a 4-1 upset victory over sixth-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.).

No. 2 seed Tennessee Wesleyan defeated 15th-seeded Lindsey Wilson in five games, third-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) swept No. 14 seed Union (Ky.), fifth-seeded Bethel (Tenn.) swept No. 12 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) and eighth-seeded Thomas More (Ky.) defeated No. 9 seed Shawnee State (Ohio) 4-3 to close out the first round.

Thomas More upset top-seeded Marian (Ind.) in seven games to open up the second round. Bethel advanced to take on the Saints with a sweep of Cumberland, Pikeville defeated Blue Mountain 5-1 and Life upset Tennessee Wesleyan 4-3 to advance.

In the loser’s bracket, Martin Methodist eliminated Campbellsville with a 4-1 victory. Cumberlands stayed alive sweeping Union and Midway advanced in the bottom of the bracket eliminating Lindsey Wilson 4-3.

Midway advanced in the loser’s bracket pulling off the upset and sweeping top-seeded Marian. Cumberland eliminated Cumberlands with a 4-2 upset-victory, Martin Methodist advanced eliminating Blue Mountain 4-0, Tennessee Wesleyan stayed alive with a 4-2 win over Shawnee State.

Martin Methodist stayed alive in the tournament defeating Tennessee Wesleyan in seven games. Cumberland continued its run in the loser’s bracket defeating Midway 4-0.

In the winner’s bracket semifinals, Bethel defeated Thomas More 4-1 and Pikeville swept Life to advance to the winner’s bracket final.

Thomas More stayed alive sweeping Cumberland and Life eliminated Martin Methodist winning in seven games.

In the winner’s bracket final, Bethel defeated Pikeville 4-2 to advance to the tournament final.
