Baker University – Men Finish 10th, Women 11th at Mid States Championships

WICHITA, Kan. – This past weekend, the Baker bowling teams travelled to Wichita, Kan., to compete in the Mid States Championships where the men finished 10th and the women finished 11th.

On the men’s side, the Wildcats posted a team total of 5,682, and then collected a Baker total of 3,955, for an overall total of 9,637. With the top-eight teams advancing to match play, the Wildcats’ tournament was over with a 10th place finish.

Individually, Zachery Brehm led the way for Baker, finishing in 38th place. With a tournament average of 197, Brehm’s best game came in game five with a 219. Finishing in second for the Wildcats and 45th overall, Hunter Cole posted a tournament average of 195.2.

On the women’s side, the Wildcats posted a team total of 4,947 and a Baker total of 3,365 for an overall total of 8,312. The top-eight teams advanced to match play in the tournament as the Wildcats finished in 11th place, just behind the University of Central Missouri who posted a total of 8,322.

Caitlin Lucas had the best tournament for the women, posting a tournament average of 174.67 to finish 32nd individually. Lucas’ best game came in game two as she scored a 197. Kristina Harris finished 40th on the tournament, with a tournament average of 172.83, while Emily Stamper finished 56th.

Both Baker bowling teams will be back in action on October 30-31 when they compete in the Jayhawk Collegiate Championships in Lawrence, Kan.
