Baker University – Women Finish 11th, Men 23rd at Highly Competitive Leatherneck Classic

QUAD CITIES, Iowa – Over the weekend, the Baker bowling teams travelled to Quad Cities, Iowa, where they competed in the Leatherneck Classic. The women finished in 11th place, while the men took home 23rd place.

The women posted a team total of 5,307, while collecting a Baker total of 2,958 for an overall total of 8,345. With this score, the Wildcats finished just behind the 10th place finisher Saint Xavier who had an overall total of 8,402.

Kristina Harris led Baker individually as she took 81st in the tournament. Harris’ best game came in game five as she posted a score of 213, while shooting an average of 180.33. Caitlin Lucas was not far behind, also with an average of 180.33. Her best game came in game four with a 221.

Olivia Kapala took 108th on the tournament and Kinsey Miller took 150th as the Wildcats took home an 11th place finish in the tournament.

On the men’s side, the Wildcats finished 23rd out of 43 teams. The Wildcats had an overall total of 8,711, combining a Baker total of 2,945 and a team total of 5,766. The Wildcats finished just behind Morningside College who took 22nd with an overall total of 8,799.

The men’s top finisher was Zachery Brehm who took 67th in the event. Brehm’s best game was game five where he posted a score of 237. The Wildcats’ next finisher was Hunter Cole who took home 120th in the event.

Dillon Harris took 138th, while teammates Tanner Eckerle and Matthew Carpenter took 151st and 161st to finish the tournament for the Wildcats.

Both Baker bowling teams will be back in action on Nov. 20-21, when they travel to St. Charles, Mo., to compete in the Missouri Baptist Open.
