Alley Toppers take third at Spring Hill; Turberville claims fourth

MOBILE, Ala. – Blue Mountain College Men’s Bowling picked up a third-place finish here over the weekend at the Spring Hill Invitational with Drew Turberville (JR/Tupelo, Miss.) finishing fourth and claiming a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

The Alley Toppers finished with an overall total of 6,496 pins, with Florida State winning the even with 6,887 and Spring Hill in second with 6,750.

Turberville bowled seven games and pinned 1,341 to lead BMC, while Lucas Hartigan (SR/Tupelo, Miss.) was ninth with a total of 1,305.

Peter Moore (JR/Marietta, Miss.) got a Top 20 finish for BMC also, placing 19th with a total of 1,094.  Nik Wilcher (JR/Kossuth, Miss.) was 26th with a total of 1,005, also.

Logan Akins placed 41st with total of 595 and Cole Tomlin (SR/Kossuth, Miss.) was 46th with a total of 402.

A total of 53 bowlers competed at the event.

“This was our longest weekend all year,” BMC head coach Creighton Nelms said.  “We were at the alley for 16 plus hours in two days.  I’m really proud of how the guys stayed mentally tough and finished the fall season.  Drew saved his best game for last with a 234 to jump into the All-Tournament Team.  This was our best finish of the year and I’m really looking forward to the second half of the season starting in January.”

BMC returns to its spring schedule January 8-9 in Smyrna, Tenn.
