Lucas Earns All-Tournament Honors as Wildcats Perform Well at Highly Competitive Las Vegas Tournaments

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Traveling to Las Vegas for two separate tournaments against some of the best competition they will face all season, the women finished 10th and fifth, while the men took home 21st and 19th.

Starting off the event, the Wildcats competed in the Glenn Carlson Invitational. The women put together a team total of 8,178 to finish in 10th place, but did not earn a spot in bracket play as only the top eight seeds moved on.

Individually, Caitlin Lucas led the way for Baker in the Glenn Carlson Invitational, posting a tournament average of 193 to finish in 16th place. The next Wildcat was Allayna Bell who took home 42nd, while Emily Stamper took 102nd and Kristina Harris took 123rd.

On the men’s side, the Wildcats posted a team total of 8,459 and finished in 21st for the tournament. Matthew Carpenter was the top finisher for Baker as he took 26th with a tournament average of 203.1. Hunter Cole and Zachery Brehm finished second and third on the team as they finished 62nd and 107th respectively.

The women then bounced back and competed well at the Collegiate Shootout as they finished in fifth place against some very strong competition. Baker posted a team total of 8,655 on the day, finishing behind Wichita State (9,295), St. Francis (8,823), Saint Xavier (8,776) and Newman (8,744).

Lucas stepped her game up at the Collegiate Shootout and took home second place with a tournament average of 218.17. Lucas’ second place finish earned herself a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Kristina Harris was also inside the top-20 as she finished 17th with a tournament average of 200.

Emily Stamper finished third on the team in 31st place, while teammates Allayna Bell and Hailey Howard finished 50th and 64th respectively.

On the men’s side, the Wildcats jumped inside the top-20 as they finished 19th in the Collegiate Shootout with an overall total of 8,792.

Zachery Brehm was the top bowler for Baker on the day, finished 35th with a tournament average of 207.7. Matthew Carpenter also stayed inside the top-50 with a 50th place finish, while Hunter Cole took home 58th in the tournament.

Both Baker bowling teams will now wait until Feb. 12-13, to host the Baker Challenge in both Lawrence, Kan., and Topeka, Kan.
