Bulldogs Historic Campaign Ends at the NCAA Tournament

ERIE, Pa. –The Bowie State women’s bowling team season came to an end Friday at the NCAA Tournament in the Erie Regional. The Bulldogs fell to the No. 1 seeded McKendree, 0-2, dipping into the loser’s bracket where BSU succumbed to a 0-2 defeat by Medaille at the Rolling Meadow Lanes.

The Bulldogs matched up with the Bearcats in the opening match. Bowie State showed good efforts as BSU individually posted scores highlighted by Cayla Snowden (Parksville, MD) (226) and Paris Anthony (Waldorf, MD) (200) but it wasn’t enough in the traditional portion as McKendree had three players roll (200) or above, followed by five player bowlers eclipse the (190) or above mark in the Bakers round.

In the second match, Chalia Gray (Glen Burnie, MD) led the efforts with a team-high of 191 while Medaille’s highest mark was 179 but the Mavericks were able to hold off the Bulldogs rally with an 818-774 win in traditional games. Unfortunately for Bowie State, the Bulldogs had to play from behind before falling 758-855 in the Bakers match.

Bowie State concluded their season with a 49-17 record while becoming the most winningest program in conference history with 10 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships.
