Crusaders Earn NTCA All-Academic Award; Sasenick, Naegele Honored

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Belmont Abbey women’s bowlers Dana Sasenick and Kirsten Naegele have been named All-Academic by the The National Tenpin Coaches Association, the organization announced recently.

Sasenick is a senior sport management major from Villa Park, Ill., while Naegele, a junior pre-nursing major, hails from Howell, N.J.

To be eligible, student-athletes must have earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.4 or higher for the school year. A total of 397 bowlers were honored nationwide.

Additionally, the Crusaders were one of 52 programs to earn the association’s Team Academic Award, recognizing team GPAs higher than a 3.2

“Success on and off the lanes is what we strive for,” Head Coach Rich Gucwa said. “I’m so incredibly proud of this team. They have worked extremely hard over the past year and I always catch them supporting each other academically. A special shout out to Kirstin and Dana for making the Individual All-Academic List . It’s quite an accomplishment to continue to demonstrate Excellence and Virtue in the classroom!”
