A-State Bowling Ranked Sixth in NTCA Preseason Poll


JONESBORO, Ark. (10/5/22) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team is ranked sixth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Preseason Poll, announced by the organization Wednesday.
 
The Red Wolves received 992 points to land in sixth behind McKendree (1,312 points), Vanderbilt (1,212 points), Nebraska (1,193 points), Stephen F. Austin (1,164 points) and Sam Houston State (1,024 points).
 
A-State finished the 2021-22 season in the sixth position after finishing runner-up at the NCAA Lansing Regional. The Red Wolves compiled a 72-37 record last season finishing top four in nine of 10 events, including two tournament titles.
 
Head Coach Justin Kostick is entering his 14th season at the helm of the A-State women’s bowling program and has accumulated a 1,021-450 (.694) record, one of six coaches in NCAA bowling history with 1,000 or more victories. A-State returns six letterwinners from last year and added three freshmen and a transfer to the mix.
 
The 2022-23 season gets underway Oct. 14-16 when the Red Wolves travel to Struthers, Ohio, to participate in the Penguin Classic hosted by Youngstown State.
