Hitting the lanes for the third straight weekend, the Barton Community College women’s bowling team continued to build on its’ early season success this past weekend at the 14th Annual Hammer Lions Classic held in St. Charles, Missouri.

Sitting in sixth place following Saturday’s three individual games and 20 baker games, the Cougars sustained their spot in Sunday’s morning action earning the sixth seed in the double-elimination bracket play. Barton would conduct a 1-2 mark in double-elimination play knocking off third seed Missouri Baptist University in the opening round before bowing out to the Panthers in a rematch in the third round of the consolation side.

Claiming the team title and bracket championship was host Lindenwood University tallying a tournament 6,524 pins outlasting the field of nine teams. Missouri Baptist University concluded a runner-up finish in bracket play outlasting second seeded Avila in the decisive round 6.

Individually the Cougars were led by Angelina Leeper‘s fourth place finish and All-Tournament team selection in the 66-participant field. Leaper totaled a three-game individual team high of 591 pins for an average score of 197 per 10-frames. The sophomore rolled above the 200-mark in two of her three games with the highest round coming in game three with a 203.

Just slipping outside the top-10 was Mallory Cross earning a 12th place finish of 549 pins. Cross carded the highest individual single game score of 234 in the second tossed game.

Ella Adkins turned in a 34th place 450 pin total while Jasmine Bridges and Allyson Heidenreich conducted 43rd and 46th place showings.

Ana Stanton and Courtney Kitchen rounded the individual placings tossing one game for a 63rd and 64th placing respectfully.

The Cougars will be right back in action next weekend for the two-day event at the Jayhawk Challenge held at West Ridge Lanes in Topeka, KS.
