Red Wolves Fourth After Opening Day of Ladyjack Classic


KENOSHA, Wis. (11/11/22) – Beginning its second event of the season, the Arkansas State women’s bowling team is fourth among 14 teams after the opening day of the Ladyjack Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin at Sheridan Lanes.

Despite a 2-3 head-to-head record in the five Baker games Friday, A-State is fourth with a total pinfall rolling 5,137 pins (205.5). Vanderbilt holds the lead with 5,626 pins (225.0) with McKendree (5,470) and Nebraska (5,231) just ahead of the Red Wolves.

Playing in its first match in nearly a month, the Red Wolves came up short of Wisconsin-Whitewater 994-982 in the opener. The second Baker match was against host Stephen F. Austin and the SFA came away with a 976-953 advantage. A-State closed out the day with wins in two of the final three matches, defeating Valparaiso (1094-962) and Nebraska (1066-989), but falling to Vanderbilt (1185-1042).

A-State meets Lewis, North Central College, Carthage, McKendree and Youngstown State in traditional games Saturday. Three more Baker games against Marian, Newman and Maryville on Sunday will determine final seeding and one Baker best-of-seven match will determine the final standings.
