Bulldogs Roll to an Undefeated Weekend at CIAA Event I


BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State women’s bowling team rolled to a perfect weekend at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event I hosted by Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. The Bulldogs improved its overall record to 17-8 overall after a 12-0 performance against CIAA Northern Division opponents at the Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center.

The Bulldogs combined for 6,159 total pins and 2,135 pins in Baker’s for 8,294 total, which was the best amongst the CIAA North and third overall. BSU’s Paris Anthony earned the events highest average (150.00) and highest score (182) from the Northern Division.

Bowie State cruised to wins over Virginia Union (657-526), Elizabeth City State (746-608) and Virginia State (629-570), followed by a 629-570 victory against the Lady Panthers in the fourth game and a 665-630 advantage over the Lady Vikings in game five.

The second day, Bowie State continued winning momentum with four-straight wins, including a dominant 745-572 win over VUU. In the Baker’s, the Bulldogs tacked on three straight wins against VSU (715-534), ECSU (677-648) and VUU (747-529) on Sunday.

Bowie State will return to action in February (10-12) for the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Fayetteville State.
