Leads ISTAP Hornet Classic After Day One

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  | The Alabama State women’s bowling team leads after going 5-0 on day one of the ISTAP Hornet Classic at AMF Bowlero Montgomery.
 

Alabama State opened Baker Player by defeating Florida A&M (908-888) and followed with a win over Grambling State (961-619). In the third baker match, ASU defeated Tusculum College (810-766) and beat UAB (939-803) in match four. The Hornets closed the day out with a win over instate rival Alabama A&M (878-797).
 

 Alabama State is first in the team standings with a 4,496 pin total, followed by UAB in second with 4,410 pins. Alabama A&M is third with 4,177,  and Tusculum is fourth with 4,166 total pins on the day.
 

Southern University (4,140) rounds out the top five, while Jackson State (4,118), Florida A&M (3,926), and Grambling State (3,408) round out the eight-team standings.

The Alabama State women’s bowling team will play all seven teams again in traditional matches on day two of the ISTAP Hornet Classic on Saturday. Warmups are at 8:30 with play set to start around 9 a.m.
