Augie bowling sits 5th after first CCIW outing

BETTENDORF, Iowa — Augustana women’s bowling concluded their first CCIW regular season event this weekend, earning a fifth-place standing among eight teams in attendance. The two-day tournament helps determine seeding for the conference championships in late March.

The Vikings played exclusively Baker format for Saturday’s matchups, rolling highlights of 209, 202, and 201. Augie went 2-2 overall and emerged as the third-highest-scoring team after day one. The Vikings’ efforts put the bowlers five pins over their season average in Baker format.

Augie’s Baker lineup remained untouched through Saturday’s contests and featured Samantha Novak, Sarah Stevanovic, Rose Klinger, Delaney Walsh, and Madelyn Lathrop.

Sunday brought the Vikings less success on the lanes in the traditional format. Lathrop put together a high roll of 193 for Augie on day two. She finished 17th among all bowlers on Sunday for traditional format, putting together a collective 519 total.

Other highlights included Novak rolling a 181 to open the day and Klinger putting together a solid 183 score later in the afternoon. Megan Kukulka saw action in the Vikings’ second match of the day and rolled multiple pins over her average with a 160 score.

Augustana finished the weekend with a 3-4 record, including two Baker wins and a traditional format victory.

Augie’s next competition will take place in Addison, Ill., for the Warhawk Open hosted by UW-Whitewater. The tournament runs December 3-4 and will be the Vikings’ final matchup before the Midwest Classic in January.
