Huskers Extend Buchert Legacy In 2023 Recruit Class


Lincoln – The Nebraska bowling team announced the signing of Desiree Buchert to join her sister and current bowler Alexis Buchert (San Antonio, Texas), on Thursday for the 2023-24 season.   

A native of San Antonio, Texas, the last name Buchert will continue its legacy in the Nebraska Bowling program. Desiree joins the Husker team for the 2023-2024 season alongside her older sister and current Husker Bowler Alexis. 

Throughout her high school career, Buchert collected numerous titles and awards in her bowling career. In addition to four high school bowling letters, Buchert is a three-time Academic All-District First Team. As the defending 2022 Texas USBC Youth Queen’s Champion, Buchert also tallide a 2021 third-place finish for the Queens Youth title. Buchert is also a two-time Pepsi U15 Girls Scratch Champion and a 2021 USA National Junior Team Challenge Runner Up.  

“We are all excited that Desiree has decided to follow her sister, Alexis, and join our Husker family,” Head Coach Paul Klempa said. “Desiree has been a very competitive player nationally for quite some time and brings quality experience to our program. We expect Desiree to have an impact early on in our program. ” 

Academically, Buchert is also very competitive as she is currently a member of the National Honor Society as well as the National Technical Honors Society. Upon her arrival, Buchert will begin her degree towards a career in Criminology and Criminal Justice.  

“I chose Nebraska because I wanted to compete for and learn from the most successful program in NCAA Women’s College Bowling,” Buchert said. “Additionally, I want to help bring home another National Championship to Nebraska.”  

Buchert is the daughter of Charles and LaRonda Buchert and has an older sister, current Husker bowler Alexis.
