Las Vegas, Nev. – The Nebraska bowling team currently sits in third place after the first day of competition at the Stormin’ Blue & Gold Vegas Classic with a total pinfall of 5,075.
The Big Red, who is third in the NTCA poll, started the day off with a win against Prairie View A&M (942-887). NU then went back and forth with wins and losses for the remaining four matches. The Huskers fell to No. 5 Stephen F. Austin (1,013-1,060) and bounced back with a win against No. 15 Mount St. Mary’s (996-942). Nebraska then encountered one final loss to No. 17 Tulane (1,023-1,061) before wrapping up the day with a win against No. 16 Newman (1,101-1,026).
The Huskers will resume play tomorrow at 9:55 a.m. (PST) against No. 1 McKendree in a traditional match, followed by matches against No. 9 Louisiana Tech, Daemen, No. 11 Maryville, and No. 10 Maryland Eastern Shore.
The combined total pinfall results from Sunday and Monday will seed each team for a three best-of-seven Baker match bracket for the championship.
