Bulldogs Bowling Team Set to Compete in SWAC East Round-Up Over the Weekend


HUNTSVILLE, Ala. __ Alabama A&M will return to D’Iberville, Mississippi this weekend for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Regional Roundup for the first match of the month of February.

The results from this week’s action will determine the regular season conference champion. Competition will start on Friday morning at 10:00 am CST with five traditional matches and resume Saturday with the same schedule. 

 

Alabama A&M enters the weekend with a pair of bowlers in the top ten of the individual standings in Rose Ugbinada (Vancouver, Wash.) and Nariya Jackson (Fort Wayne, Ind.).

 

Ugbinada led all freshman competitors finishing eighth individually at the first SWAC Round-Up. She contributed a total pinfall of 2,682 while posting an average of 191.57 per game. Meanwhile, Jackson finished tenth in the previous Round-Up, knocking down a total of 2,644 pins and holding an average of 188.86 per game.

The three-day tournament will begin on Friday morning with the Bulldogs meeting Southern, Prairie View A&M, Florida A&M, Grambling State, and Texas Southern on the opening day. On day two, Alabama A&M will face off against rival Alabama State, along with Jackson State, Southern, and Prairie View A&M and Southern for a second time.

 

The Bulldogs will compete in just four games on Sunday, as they are scheduled to meet Grambling State, Texas Southern, Alabama State and Jackson State once more to conclude the weekend round-up.
