ORLANDO, Fla. (2/10/23) – Rolling its best Baker total of the season with 1,206 pins against UAB, the Arkansas State women’s bowling team is second among 11 teams after the first day of the Sunshine State Classic.

A-State (39-19) opened with a bye in the round-robin format and downed 856 pins. The Red Wolves had a 2-2 head-to-head record in Baker matches coming up short against Duquesne (1,124-1,052) and host Sacred Heart (944-940). A-State rolled a season-best 1,206 to defeat UAB (976) and closed the day with a 938-885 advantage against Prairie View A&M.

Stephen F. Austin leads the total pinfall after a 4-0 day with 5,337 pints for an average of 213.5. A-State totaled 4,992 (199.7) with Sacred Heart (4,819), Duquesne (4,775) and Emmanuel College (4,556) rounding out the top five.
