ORLANDO, Fla. (2/11/23) – Led by Emma Stull averaging 241.8 pins in five traditional games, the Arkansas State women’s bowling team remains second among 11 teams at the Sunshine State Classic.
A-State (43-20) went 4-1 in traditional matches Saturday to move to 6-3 at the event. The Red Wolves opened the day with a 1,048-892 win over Florida A&M, but fell by three pins, 1,037-1,034 to Stephen F. Austin in match two. A-State closed out the day with wins over LIU (1,088-863), Monmouth (1,120-1,046) and Emmanuel College (948-919).
Stull holds the individual lead with 1,209 pins and the average of 241.80. Stull rolled three games over 250, including a high of 279 against Monmouth. Sarah Sanes ranks fifth in the individual standings with 853 pins over four games for an average of 213.25. Sanes downed 276 pins to help A-State to the win over Emmanuel College in the final match of the day. Brooklyn Buchanan is sixth individually with 1,060 pins (212.00), rolling four games of 200-plus. Faith Welch is 12th with 1,023 pins (204.60) and Karli VanDuinen is 36th with 923 pins (184.60).
A-State heads into Sunday second in the team standings with 10,230 total pinfall, an average of 204.6. The Red Wolves dropped 5,238 pins in traditional play Saturday to lead the field. Stephen F. Austin leads with 10,372 total pinfall (207.4) with host Sacred Heart third at 10,023 pins for an average of 200.5.
