A-State Fourth After First Day of Mid-Winter Invitational


JONESBORO, Ark. (2/17/23) – Opening competition in the annual Mid-Winter Invitational presented by Kalmer Solutions at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center, the Arkansas State women’s bowling team is fourth among 17 teams with 5,282 total pinfall after five Baker matches Friday.

A-State (47-24) was 2-3 head-to-head Friday with wins over Tusculum (1,138-984) and Kentucky Wesleyan (1,018-875). The Red Wolves came up short against Maryville (1,053-1,075), Central Missouri (988-1,028) and Nebraska (1,085-1,138). Tusculum, Central Missouri and Nebraska rolled match-highs on the day against the Red Wolves with Nebraska rolling a 299 in game three.

McKendree, ranked first in the latest NTCA Top-25, leads the field of 10 top-25 ranked sides after day one with 5,367 pins dropped for an average of 214.7. Louisiana Tech downed 5,306 and is second followed by Sam Houston State with 5,305.

A-State faces Sam Houston State, Alabama A&M, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Stephen F. Austin while having a bye in match three of five traditional matches. All matches are streamed live on the A-State women’s bowling page (/AStateBowling).
