Buchanan Leads A-State in Day Two of Mid-Winter Invitational


JONESBORO, Ark. (2/18/23) – Brooklyn Buchanan was the individual pinfall leader and the Arkansas State women’s bowling team was a perfect 4-0 Saturday in day two of the Mid-Winter Invitational presented by Kalmer Solutions at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center.

Buchanan totaled 1,169 pins for an average of 233.80 and rolled over 200 in all five matches. Buchanan rolled a high of 265 helping A-State to a win over Stephen F. Austin. Emma Stull downed 1,076 pins to rank 15th while Faith Welch rolled 1,040 to rank 25th. Shalee Bradley bowled the last four matches and averaged 206.00 with 824 total while Vanessa Nofsier bowled the final three contests and averaged 213.0 with 639 total.

In the opener Saturday, A-State (51-24) took down Sam Houston State 105-79 in a tiebreaker. The Red Wolves followed with a 1,013-838 margin against Alabama A&M and downed 1,105 pins in the bye match. Closing out the day, A-State downed Wisconsin-Whitewater 1,038-985 and Stephen F. Austin 1,140-1,043. The Red Wolves totaled 5,343 pins in traditional play.

McKendree leads the total pinfall with 10,742 pins while Louisiana Tech is second (10,701) and Sam Houston (10,637) third. Nebraska is fifth (10,385) and Maryville (10,379) is sixth.

A-State faces Sam Houston to open bracket play Sunday at 8:00 a.m. A senior day presentation will take place at 7:30 a.m. All matches are streamed live on the A-State women’s bowling page (/AStateBowling).
