Saints Men Finish Fourth at WHAC Championships


Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Aquinas men’s bowling team competed in the WHAC Championships today (Feb. 25) to wrap up the 2022-23 conference campaign. The men played five sets of baker games for a total of 3,946 pins. That pin total placed Aquinas in fourth place overall and qualified the men for bracket play.

The Saints bowled baker set scores of 716 (136, 175, 193, 208), 724 (174, 150, 211, 189), 818 (212, 243, 174, 189), 878 (195, 169, 237, 277), and 810 (214, 204, 191, 201) to reach the accumulative total of 3,946 pins. AQ’s pin count trailed first-place Concordia by just 164 pins.

After the conclusion of the baker games, Concordia (4,110 pins), Lawrence Tech (4,063 pins), Indiana Tech (4,043 pins), and Aquinas advanced to the bracket stage of the competition.

The Saints won the first best-of-five baker game 187-181 to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. However, Concordia regrouped and bowled three consecutive great games to top Aquinas 3-1. CUAA won by scores of 223-176, 237-204, and 219-169.

Indiana Tech advanced after bowling a 290 in the fifth game against Lawrence Tech. Concordia and Indiana Tech tied the first baker game at 179 and then proceeded to end the fifth game tied 2-2. The Warriors went on to win the final baker game 226-177 to win the tournament. The Indiana Tech men and women swept the WHAC Championships in 2023.
