Bowling Begins Stretch Run Towards ECC's at New Jersey Open

Hamilton Township, N.J. – With the ECC Championships a month away, the Adelphi University women’s bowling team tuned up its game this weekend at the New Jersey Open, hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, at Hamilton Lanes.

Senior Kristen Derr improved on her career-high traditional average yet again, eclipsing a score of 200 in four of the six games for a 200.7 average.

Derr finished just outside the Top 10 traditional leaders, and trailed only three Wilmington bowlers for the title of leading Division II performer.

Junior Blanca Fraticelli placed among the top-half of the leaderboard with her 185.1 average. In the team’s narrowest traditional result of the weekend, Fraticelli threw a 236 against Saint Anselm College.

Adelphi faced Saint Anselm again the following day in a best-of-seven Baker contest. A 203 in the third game wasn’t enough to prevent the Hawks from prevailing in seven games.

In her first-ever start, graduate bowler Lydia Fraga Cordoba impressively rolled a 158 to open traditional play versus Bloomfield College.

The Panthers will stay local next weekend (Mar. 4-5) at Molloy’s Lions’ Roar for Cancer Society at Sheridan Lanes in Garden City, N.Y.
