Wong Named All-Tournament at Sacred Heart University Bowl for the Cure

East Haven, Conn. – An annual fall tournament for the ‘Cats, the Adelphi University women’s bowling team competed this past weekend at the Sacred Heart University Bowl for the Cure at AMF Circle Lanes in East Haven.

Played as two separate tournaments across the weekend, Tiffany Wong was named All-Tournament after averaging a 176.9 in the traditional competition that placed her among the Top 5 leaders.

Although the team started out slow in the traditional tournament, the Panthers finished strong, defeating Wagner by two pins (880-878) and familiar ECC opponent Saint Anselm, 731-713.

Wong bowled a 180 or better in three of the five traditional matches — highlighted by a high game of 210 against Bentley — in which the ‘Cats exceeded an 800 series with a total pinfall of 820.

The freshman converted 12-of-15 (80.0 percent) single-pin spares and achieved a mark in 80.0 percent of her frames throughout the team’s traditional outing.

Blanca Fraticelli just trailed behind Wong with a 170.8 average, but far exceeded her teammates in Baker, where she led Adelphi with a 181.2 average.

The Panthers led off the Baker tournament with back-to-back victories — including a pair of 201 games to key a 850-848 win over nationally-ranked Sacred Heart to kick off the weekend.

Head Coach Arthur O’Connor and his Adelphi squad take a trip over the Verrazano in two weeks (Nov. 4-5) for the Seahawk Invitational at Rab’s Country Lanes in Staten Island, N.Y.
