‘Bama State Athletics Boast 15 Teams with 3.0 Fall GPA

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University Athletics proved its prowess on and off the field, boasting a 3.27 fall semester and a 3.3 fall cumulative GPA for the 2024 Fall semester.

“I am incredibly proud of the efforts put forth by our student-athletes,” Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Experience and Academics Dr. Genese Lavalais said. “The student-athletes continue to amaze me. I would like to thank the village (faculty, support staff, and coaches) for always holding our students to a standard of excellence.”

“I want to commend our student-athletes, coaches, and support staff for their hard work, and dedication towards success in the classroom as well as on the field.” Director of Athletics Dr. Jason Cable said. “The daily schedule that our student-athletes navigate each day during the semester is not easy and takes a lot of discipline and dedication. To say I am extremely proud of our student-athletes success in the classroom is an understatement.”

 

Women’s Tennis boasted the highest GPA with a 3.771 followed by men’s golf (3.669), women’s soccer (3.6), women’s golf (3.4), men’s tennis (3.397), and softball (3.396).

 

Athletics had 15-of-18 teams overall amass a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and 248 students had a 3.0 cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and 220 students had a 3.0 semester GPA or higher.

 

There were 50 student-athletes with a 4.0 semester GPA and 27 student-athletes boast a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
