ARLINGTON, Texas (1/26/24) – Among 10 of the top 11 ranked teams competing at the Prairie View Invitational this weekend, the sixth-ranked Arkansas State bowling team is second in total pinfall after five Baker matches.

A-State (45-12) was 3-2 in head-to-head competition Friday picking up wins over No. 11 Sam Houston (1,090-946), Southern (1,028-787) and No. 5 North Carolina A&T (1,019-906). The Red Wolves came up short in Baker pinfall against No. 3 Youngstown State (1,021-1,010) and No. 4 Louisiana Tech (1,005-948). A-State’s 1,090 pins against Sam Houston ranked as its fourth-highest Baker total of the season.

The Red Wolves totaled 5,095 pins on the day, an average of 203.8, to stand second behind Jacksonville State (5,282). Youngstown State (5,063), Louisiana Tech (5,034) and Vanderbilt (5,007) complete the top five.

Traditional matches against No. 9 Stephen F. Austin, Prairie View A&M, No. 7 Nebraska, No. 10 Maryville and No. 2 Vanderbilt are on the schedule Saturday.
