A-State Bowling Garners No. 2 Seed at Inaugural Conference USA Championship

HARAHAN, La. (3/20/24) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team has garnered the No. 2 seed in the inaugural Conference USA Bowling Championship March 21-24 at Colonial Lanes in Harahan, La.

A-State closed out its regular season with an 80-24 record, including a 46-23 mark against top-25 foes. The Red Wolves compiled a 25-15 head-to-head record against CUSA teams this season, including a 15-9 mark against the other top four seeded teams.

The double-elimination bracket is seeded based on the most recent NCAA RPI rankings. All nine CUSA teams are ranked inside the top-20 nationally, with Jacksonville State (1), A-State (2), Youngstown State (3), Vanderbilt (6), Louisiana Tech (7) and Sam Houston (10) in the top-10.

Each match will follow the mega-match format where teams bowl a five-person traditional match, then five Baker games for total pinfall. If one team wins both the traditional match and Baker match, they advance. If the teams split the traditional and Baker match, a Baker best-of-seven series will decide the match.

A-State will meet seventh-seeded Stephen F. Austin in the opening mega-match at 9:00 a.m. Friday with the winner facing third-seeded Youngstown State or sixth-seeded Sam Houston at 2:00 p.m. Jacksonville State opens against the winner of the play-in match between eighth-seeded Tulane and ninth-seeded Valparaiso while fourth-seeded Vanderbilt plays fifth-seeded Louisiana Tech.

Matches are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday while play on Saturday is slated for 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The round six match will begin at 9:00 a.m. Sunday with the championship match to follow. All matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.

A watch party for each A-State match will take place at The Social in Jonesboro. Friday’s watch party will begin at 10:30 a.m. due to The Social hours of business.
