Staten Island, N.Y. — This past Sunday, the Adelphi bowling team competed in the Dezy Strong Baker Invitational, hosted by Molloy. The Panthers raised $1,000 for the DezyStrong Foundation which was established to provide the opportunity for individuals with cancer to have access to experiences that directly affect a positive mental well-being.
The ‘Cats finished the day with a winning record of 3-2, defeating St. Thomas Aquinas (831-575), Molloy (874-796) and LIU (804-795). They had their best game of the day, and third highest score of the entire tournament, when they knocked down 928 pins against Wagner. For the tournament, Adelphi collected an impressive single pin spare conversion rate of 81%.
Brianna Tringali was named team MVP for the week, earning an average of 18.06 pins per frame, picking up an overall fill percentage of 81.3% and converting on a team-high 71.9% of spare opportunities.
Carly Wu had an impressive tournament, leading the Panthers in both strike percentage (38.1%) and first ball 9+ percentage (61.9%).
Skye Tadani was solid once again in her second ever collegiate tournament, converting each of her eight single pin spare attempts and recording a 20 in her lone tenth frame attempt.
“I’m really happy with the way the team bowled,” head coach Arthur O’Connor said. “Everybody contributed and I think we can keep improving.”
The Panthers return to the lanes on Friday when they travel to Houston for the three-day TRACK Kat Klash, hosted by Sam Houston State.
