MONTGOMERY, Ala | The Alabama State University Lady Hornets Bowling team will host the 2024 ISTAP Hornet Classic on Thursday, Nov. 8-10 in Montgomery, Ala.
The event will be held at @ AMF Bowlero located at 1661 Eastern Blvd in Montgomery and live stream on the Hornet Bowling Facebook Page. Admission is free to the public.
“We are excited to host the 2024 Hornet Invitational and invite all ASU fans as well as bowling enthusiasts to come out and watch some talented collegiate bowling, “ASU Head Bowling Coach Andrew Chatmon said. “This will also be a great chance to see our ladies perform on their home lanes for the first time this season.
ASU opened the fall with an 11th place finished at the Sacred Heart Invitational followed by a third-place finish at the Southern Queens before claiming 11 at the Sam Houston Track Kat Clash last week.
During the first three tournaments, the Lady Hornets own six wins over Top 25 teams after three fall events.
The tournament will consist of a three-day schedule with lane draws taking place on Friday morning at the coaches meeting. The tournament will use a scratch scoring system and will be based on match wins and losses. Teams will compete in five Baker-style matches on Friday beginning at 8:45 am.
The teams will compete in five Traditional-style matches on Saturday, beginning at 9:15 am, before being seeded on Sunday based on total pins for the bracket round for a best of seven series to determine the winner. Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the tournament at 12:30 pm.
Participating Teams:
Alabama State University will host Alabama A&M (AAMU), Florida A&M (FAMU), Jackson State (JSU), Grambling State, and Southern University.
The Teams are schedule to practice on Thursday from 2pm to 4pm at Bowlero, with competition set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
