KENOSHA, Wis. (11/8/24) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team downed 4,955 pins over five Baker matches to stand fifth among 18 teams after the first day of the Ladyjack Classic.
A-State (34-10) was 4-1 in those five head-to-head Baker matches Friday. The Red Wolves opened with a 1,067-938 tally against No. 7 Louisiana Tech, but No. 4 Vanderbilt topped A-State 1,035-1,019 in game two. A-State closed out the day with consecutive victories against No. 17 Wichita State (974-841), Marian (960-950) and Carthage (935-787).
The Red Wolves averaged 198.2 pins on the day to rank fifth. Maryville was a perfect 5-0 downing 5,209 pins for an average of 208.4. Jacksonville State (5,153), Youngstown State (5,147) and Nebraska (5,125) comprised the top four while McKendree (4,895), Louisiana Tech (4,888), Stephen F. Austin (4,886), Vanderbilt (4,873) and Wichita State (4,854) completed the top 10.
After a position round match against No. 21 McKendree to open Saturday’s matches, A-State plays traditional matches against No. 24 Oklahoma Christian, No. 15 Newman, No. 1 Jacksonville State and No. 19 Valparaiso. Live streaming of each match is available on the Red Wolves Bowling YouTube page.
