Women’s bowling concludes two-day Leatherneck Classic


ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Augustana Vikings bowling team finished the Leatherneck Classic on Sunday, finishing 24th out of 30 teams with a total of 6235. The team fought its way up from 27th place on Saturday to its final placement in 24th.  

Maddie Lathrop was the top scorer for Augie with a total of 823 after five games for a 164.6 average to finish 80th out of 256 bowlers. Cassie Kontos followed in 82nd with a final score of 817 and had Augie’s game-high score of 207. Sarah Stevanovic cliched a top 100 placement after bowling a score of 811 after five games to finish 88th.

Other finishers for Augie were Cami Flores (711), Lili Leatherman (342), and Sarai Roberson (180).

The Vikings improved their Baker season average by five pins after shooting 11 pins over average on day two of the event.

The Vikings will be back in action at the Backyard Bowl in Milan, Ill. for the first round of the CIW tournament on November 23-24.
