Bulldogs Bowling Earn Fourth Place in Two AHIBC Tournaments in the Steel City


PITTSBURGH – The Adrian College men’s bowling team competed in two American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference tournaments on Jan. 25-26 at the Mount Lebanon Lanes with good results. For the AHIBC 3, Adrian scored a 6888 to finish fourth out of 15 teams. For the AHIBC 4 the following day, the Bulldogs scored a 6626 to finish fourth again out of 14 schools. The format for the tournaments were five games and 12 bakers for day one and four games and 16 bakers day two.

For day one, the Bulldogs started very hot throwing a 968 and a 1021 first two team games. Game three was a 861, but they came back with two games of 937 and 928. They finished their five games with a 4715. For their three baker sets, they scored a 2173. 

Wright State took first, Robert Morris (Pa) was second and Rio Grande came in third with 7195, 7167 and 6917 pins, respectively.

Individually, seniors Austin Foate and Jared Caudill both took top ten finishes. Foate finished in sixth place out of 144 bowlers, throwing a 1044 for five games and averaging 208.8. He received a second-team all-tournament team honor as a result. Caudill placed eight, throwing a 1016 for five games to average 203.2. Like Foate, he also got a second-team all-tournament team nod. Junior Jansen Stone placed 17th, throwing a 969 for five games, averaging 193.8. Senior Jadin Majewski placed 39th, throwing a 902 for five games.

For day two, the Bulldogs started slow with a 830 team game. They quickly figured it out throwing by 917, 967 and a 925 for their next three team games. They bowled real well in bakers, putting them in fourth place for day two.

Wright State claimed first (7004 pins), Davenport was the runner-up (6908) and Ohio State took third (6691).

Individually, Caudill threw a 783 for four games, placing sixth overall against 130 other bowlers. Caudill averaged 195.75 for the four games. Foate and freshman junior varsity bowler Noah Bany both threw four games, scoring 756 and placing 19th. Stone threw a 744, ending up in 25th place.

The Bulldogs’ next tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Alma Classic in Alma, Mich.
