Harold Klukowski Selected to Run Men's and Women's Bowling Programs

Aquinas College is pleased to announce the hiring of Harold Klukowski as the school’s next men’s and women’s bowling head coach, as announced on Tuesday afternoon (July 19). Klukowski will be the fourth head coach of the men’s and women’s bowling teams since the sport was added at Aquinas in 2012-13.

Staying within the WHAC, Klukowski joins AQ after a three-year stint with Cornerstone that began in 2019 as the men’s bowling coach. He led the Golden Eagles program to an ITC Team Sectionals appearance in the 2020-21 season. CU’s best tournament finish was second during his tenure, which happened twice at the Cornerstone Classic in 2019-20 and the Adrian Bowling Event this past season.

“We are very excited about Harold Klukowski becoming our head men’s and women’s bowling coach,” explained Claudette Charney, AQ’s Deputy Director of Athletics. “He has good experience coaching at the collegiate level and comes to us with helpful knowledge of the WHAC and the Grand Rapids area. Harold is excited to lead our programs and is well connected in the bowling community. We are very pleased to welcome him to our team!”

Along with coaching at Cornerstone, Klukowski is also the boy’s and girl’s bowling head coach at Northview High School in Grand Rapids and has been there since 2017. This past year, the men’s bowling team was state champions after qualifying the past four seasons, while the girl’s team has also qualified the past three years. He has also had four individual state semifinalists or higher in the past three seasons, including a state champion in 2021. Klukowski has captured six conference championships and two regional titles along the way.

“I am excited to join AQ as I have already been welcomed into their family, helping me grow the bowling family I have created over the years,” said Klukowski. “I have coached for nine years between the high school and college ranks. My main reasons for coaching has been to grow the sport of bowling, while helping all the men and women feel like family through my programs. A team is for more than competition and a season, it is for a lifetime. I am looking forward to my time at Aquinas not only to just help the young men and women succeed on the lanes, but in life for years to come.”
