Grandville, Mich. – The men’s bowling team had their best performance of the season so far today (Oct. 15) at the Cornerstone Classic. The men’s team finished in second place with a pin total of 7,385 pins, trailing only Spring Arbor University with a pin total of 7,545. Madonna (7,208 pins), Bethel (6,915 pins), and UM-Dearborn (6,710 pins) were the remaining teams that placed inside of the top five.
Michael Deming had another great performance for the Saints today at Fairlanes. With an average of 203.8 pins per game over five games, Deming finished in eighth place at the event. He bowled respective games of 206, 201, 193, 204, and 215 to give himself a total pin count of 1,019.
Abery Thomas III also continues to bowl well as he finished in 15th place with a total pin count of 975. He averaged 195 pins per game after bowling a 195, 261, 176, 178, and 165.
Dylan Vermilyea finished 33rd with an incredible 220 pin average over four games. Virmilyea’s 220-pin average was higher than anyone else in the competition. He bowled a 203, 196, 235, and 246 for his best collegiate performance to date.
Jack Wicker placed 82nd after bowling three games for the Saints. He bowled a 179, 215, and 185 for a total of 579 pins, averaging out to 193 pins per game.
Brandon Foster and James Ruoff both also bowled three games for AQ and finished in 84th and 85th place, respectively. Foster bowled a 193, 172, and 181 to average 182 pins per game. Ruoff bowled a 169, 184, and 193 to also average exactly 182 pins per game.
Jonathan Garland bowled two games for Aquinas, scoring a 163 and 155 to average 159 pins per game. His 318-pin total was good for 100th place on the leaderboard.
Kyle Cameron, Brendan Madej, Riley Devereaux, Nathan Kozminski, and Mark Musgrave also competed in the Cornerstone Classic as a second team.
Cameron bowled a 162, 202, 191, 156, and 137 to average 169.6 pins per game and finish in 38th place individually.
Madej scored 832 pins over five games, averaging out to 166.4 pins per game and earning himself a 42nd place finish at the tournament. He bowled a 181, 178, 199, 137, and 137 in his respective games.
Devereaux finished in 49th place with a five-game total of 779 pins, averaging out to 155.8 pins per game. He scored a 155, 160, 156, 132, and 176 in his five games.
