Baker University – Women Bring Home 3rd, Men 19th at Leatherneck Classic This Past Weekend

QUAD CITIES, Ill. – This past weekend the Baker bowling teams hit the road once again to compete in the Leatherneck Classic where the women finished third and the men finished 19th as a team.

The women posted an overall total of 8,839 on the tournament, finishing behind Wichita State and Mount Mercy, while defeating Heart foes, William Penn and Grand View who also were inside the top-10.

Caitlin Lucas was the top bowler of the week for the Wildcats bowling an average of 211.16, for a third-place finish behind two Wichita State bowlers. Lucas’ top game came in game three, rolling a 257 for the team. Her performance was good enough to earn Heart of America bowler of the week honors.

Kinsey Miller took 21st place as Baker’s number two bowler, while Kristina Harris finished in 40th to round out to top-50 bowlers for the Wildcats.

On the men’s side, Baker rolled an overall total of 8,865 on their way to a 19th place finish, coming in just behind William Penn who finished 18th.

Zachery Brehm led the way for Baker individually, bowling an average of 215.5 to take home 26th place. His best game came in game five, bowling a 245 on his way to a six game total of 1,293. Josh King was the next highest finisher for Baker, taking home 61st place for the Wildcats.

Both Baker bowling teams will now travel to Louisville, Kent., for an NAIA Only Event on Nov. 26-27.
