Arlington, Texas – The Nebraska bowling team went 3-2 on day two in Arlington, Texas bringing its overall record to 6-4, as the team currently holds the top placement at the 2023 Prairie View A&M Invite with a total pinfall of 10,294 and an average of 205.9.
The Big Red started the day off with back to back wins against No. 14 Fairleigh Dickinson (955-792) and No. 9 Louisiana Tech (1,038-965). NU then fell to No. 8 Sam Houston State (1,076-1,028). The Huskers were able to add one more win against host school Prairie View A&M (1,131-889) before falling a second time to No. 6 Arkansas State (990-1,008) to wrap up the day.
Five Huskers currently sit in the top 20 individual standings after today’s five traditional matches. Senior Kendyl Hofmeister leads the Huskers in fifth with a total pinfall of 1,067. Freshman Jillian Martin is in eighth with a total pinfall of 1,058. Senior Crystal Elliott follows right behind Martin in ninth with 1,049. Rounding out the group is Kayla Verstraete at 16th with 1,033.
The Huskers will resume play tomorrow at 8:25 a.m. (CT) in a final traditional qualifying match against No. 7 Youngstown State. The total qualifying results will then seed each team for the final bracket play. Each team will compete in two matches of best 4-of-7 baker games for final placements and awards.
