BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie State women’s bowling team will compete in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up this weekend. The Bulldogs will compete against Southern Division opponents during competition at the B&B Bowling Lanes hosted by Fayetteville State University on Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19.
Traditional team matches will begin at 10:40 a.m. on Friday and five-game Baker matches will commence at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday.
The Bulldogs are coming off a dominating effort last time out in the CIAA Event II. Bowie State went 12-0, behind a team total pins of 6,968 and Baker total pins (2,166), combining for 9,134 total. Senior Chalia Gray claimed the Northern Division’s highest average with an impressive 165.78 mark while graduate senior Paris Anthony tabbed the Northern Division’s highest game at 201.
A key matchup to watch this weekend will feature Bowie State and Fayetteville State. Both teams are two of the best teams in the CIAA and has been for the last six or seven seasons. The Lady Broncos are 36-13 overall, 22-2 in the CIAA and last competed in the James Brown Invitational Feb. 10-12 against Division I opponents.
BSU (29-8) heads into the CIAA Round-Up with a 24-0 record against CIAA opponents this season and currently ride a 25-match winning streak.
