Lincoln, Neb. – After eight away tournaments including two titles, the Nebraska bowling team returns home to host the 2023 Big Red Invitational at Hollywood Bowl.
This weekend, Nebraska will host nine teams, six of them ranked in the top 25. The participating schools are No. 4 Arkansas State, No. 7 Youngstown State, No. 13 Newman, No. 17 Central Missouri, No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater, No. 21 Lincoln Memorial, Quincy, Upper Iowa and Valparaiso.
The Huskers will kick off the tournament Friday at 9:00 a.m. (CT) with five matches of five baker games total pinfall beginning with Upper Iowa, followed by matches against Wisconsin-Whitewater, Lincoln Memorial, Central Missouri and Arkansas State to round out the day. Saturday will consist of each team participating in five matches of traditional games starting at 9:00 a.m. (CT).
The championship trophy of the Big Red Invitational is awarded to the team with the highest overall total pinfall and per-game average over all three days of competition. On Sunday, each team will compete in two matches of best 4-of-7 baker games in seeded pool rounds based off total pinfall and the top three teams with highest averages will be awarded.
