Seven Dores Earn Bowling Academic Honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — National champion Vanderbilt placed seven Commodores on the National Ten Pin Coaches Association’s 2023 All-Academic team. To qualify for the sport’s highest academic honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a minimum of a 3.40 grade point average for the academic year.

Vanderbilt’s honorees include Mabel Cummins (neuroscience), Kaylee Hitt (undeclared), Amelia Kiefer (human and organizational development), Jennifer Loredo (law, history, and society), Amanda Naujokas (child studies and human and organizational development), Caroline Thesier (psychology) and Victoria Varano (undeclared).

The seven represent 70 percent of Vanderbilt’s roster. As a team, the Commodores compiled an impressive 3.526 grade point average for the school year, thought to be the program’s best on record.

“Our team takes a lot of pride in our academic tradition,” head coach John Williamson said. “These are competitive classrooms and to achieve such strong grade points speaks to the all-around excellence we strive to reach every year.”
