Women's bowling earns NTCA All-Academic recognition


SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Augustana women’s bowling team has been recognized as one of 42 All-Academic Team Award recipients for the 2022-23 season by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA), the organization announced Tuesday.

The NTCA recognizes NCAA bowling teams that excel academically each year. Programs must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the academic school year and be a current member of the NTCA.

With a cumulative team GPA of 3.350, Augustana ranks 29th across all NCAA Divisions and fourth among Division III programs.

The Vikings also had four student-athletes named NTCA All-Academic. This year there were 285 honorees representing NCAA bowling programs at 57 schools. To qualify for this award, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher for the academic year. 

Augustana’s recipients for the 2022-23 season are:

Audrey Bezella – Freshman – Undeclared
Cami Flores – Sophomore – Sociology/Anthropology
Madelyn Lathrop – Sophomore – Pre-Med/Public Health
Samantha Novak – Junior – Elementary Education 

About the NTCA

The NTCA’s core mission is twofold. First, to facilitate dialogue between coaches and the NCAA in the development of bowling legislation and rules. Secondly, to provide coaches and institutions with the education necessary to grow the sport.
