AQ Bowling Secures Top 5 Finishes at Warrior Classic

RESULTS

Flint, Mich. — The Aquinas bowling teams competed Saturday (Sept. 30) in tournament No. 2 on the season at Rochester’s Warrior Classic being held at the Richfield Lanes. The men finished runner-up out of 13 teams — the program’s best result since they finished second at the Cornerstone Classic last season — and the women settled for 5th out of 11 teams.

The team final scores were determined by four individual series of games and four sets of baker games.

MEN

The Saints knocked down 7,594 pins to finish 76 pins back from the eventual winners Lawrence Tech (7,670). There was a large gap between the Top 2 and rest with Madonna (6,984), UM-Dearborn (6,700) and Bowling Green State (6,625) rounding out the Top 5.

Three AQ bowlers finished inside the Top 10 individually. Michael Deming took second place with 917 total pins and bowled one of the best games of the tournament with a 273.

Here is how everyone performed individually:

In the baker games, AQ put together totals of 860, 883, 717 and 828.

WOMEN

AQ toppled 5,861 pins to slot into fifth place overall — the same place they got at the season-opening Dirty Bird Classic last weekend. Rochester (6,231) fended off Lawrence Tech (6,182) for the team victory. Madonna (6,008) and Cleary (5,876) finished just ahead of the Saints.

Morgan Jones and Chloe Fisk each finished inside the Top 20 individually for the Saints.

Here is how everyone performed individually:

In the baker games, AQ put together totals of 645, 608, 584 and 697.

Both squads are back in action next at the Midwest Collegiate Championships on Oct. 7-8. The men will play at the Bowlero Wauwatosa in Wauwatosa, Wis., and the women hit the lanes at the AWF West Lanes in Milwaukee, Wis.
