Women Second, Men Fifth at Cornerstone Classic


RESULTS: MEN – TEAM | MEN – INDIVIDUAL | WOMEN – TEAM | WOMEN – INDIVIDUAL

Grandville, Mich. — The Aquinas bowling teams hit the lanes on Saturday (Oct. 21) for the Cornerstone Classic, a local Tier 2 competition held at the Station 300. The women had their best result of the season with a second place out of 13 teams, while the men took fifth out of 14 teams.

WOMEN

The Saints knocked over 6,443 total pins for a runner-up finish behind Spring Arbor (6,607). They beat out WHAC competitors Madonna (3rd, 6,356 pins), Cornerstone (7th, 6,032) and UM-Dearborn (12th, 4,902).

Aquinas placed three bowlers in the Top 20, led by Kayla Van Linden who placed third behind a pair of Spring Arbor bowlers.

Here is how everyone performed individually:

 

MEN

Aquinas finished in the Top 5 after taking down 7,240 total pins. Spring Arbor won the men’s competition as well with a team total of 7,771 pins followed by Davenport (7,759), Madonna (7,671) and Huntington (7,541).

The JV team finished third out of seven teams.

The Saints placed three bowlers in the Top 25.

Both squads return to action on Nov. 3-4 for the first two WHAC Jamboree competitions. Each day will represent a new event with both days being held at the Westgate Bowl in Comstock Park, Mich.
