Pleshar Named CCIW Bowler of the Week

Aurora University bowler Emilie Pleshar was named as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Bowler of the Week, Wednesday, November 1.

Pleshar earned the weekly CCIW honor on the strength of a 193 average over five team games at the Valparaiso Bowling Classic. The effort earned her 10th place in a tournament with three nationally ranked teams in attendance. Her steady spare shooting. 93% on the all-important single-pin spares, also helped the Spartans win tightly contested best of seven Baker matches against perennial power Lewis and Wright St, along with a solid performance in a win over Marian.

After two tournaments Emilie sits at a career high 180 average and is one of many reasons that the bowling team sits at a 13 and 13 record thus far.

Pleshar, senior from Lockport, has been one of the two senior mainstays for the women’s bowling team. Always the lead-off bowler, the team took direction from what she and her ball did on every opening shot. This year, Coach McElmeel moved her to the fourth position, the set-up to anchor Annemarie Ruzevich, and she has flourished. So much so, that she earned her first ever CCIW bowler of the week.

Next action for the Spartan women’s bowling team comes on Thursday, November 9 when they travel Motiv LadyJack Classic. The classic will take place at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
