BOWIE, MD — Coming off a runner-up finish in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Championship last season, the Bowie State women’s bowling team looks to open the 2023-24 season this weekend as the Bulldogs host the CIAA Event I Friday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Crofton Bowling Centre.
Having won eight consecutive Northern Division titles, the Bulldogs are led by All-Conference honoree in Chalia Gray. Bowie State can expect to get productivity from returners such as Olivia Watts who returns for her final year with the program along with sister Jessica Watts who returns from a season ago. The Bulldogs welcome five newcomers including a pair of transfers from Coppin State in TraVera Johnson and Janaye Monroe.
As for the CIAA Event I, Bowie State will be joined by seven other CIAA institutions competing this weekend that include Virginia Union, Virginia State, Elizabeth City State of the Northern Division and Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone and Shaw of the Southern Division. The event will begin on Friday (11/10) at 10:40 a.m. with team matches one through five, followed by team matches (1-4) on Saturday (11/12). Baker matches is set for Sunday (11/13) at 9 a.m.
Following the CIAA Event I, the Bulldogs will return to action in 2024 with the CIAA Event II hosted by Livingstone in Concord, N.C. Jan. 26-28.
