NEW CASTLE, Del. (1/19/23) – Beginning its 2024 spring slate, the sixth-ranked Arkansas State women’s bowling team went 5-0 over five Baker matches in the opening day of the Northeast Classic.
A-State (34-10) picked up wins over Morgan State (1034-898), Bryant (1035-893), No. 17 Sacred Heart (1002-878), Wagner (991-837) and No. 14 Maryland Eastern Shore (1012-933). The Red Wolves had 14 games of 200-plus pins, including a high of 255 against Wagner.
A-State totaled 5,074 pins on the day to stand eighth among the 37-team field. North Carolina A&T leads the field with 5,457 pins followed by Maryville, Youngstown State, Vanderbilt and Jacksonville State in the top five. Nebraska and Tulane are just ahead of A-State while Sam Houston and Oklahoma Christian round out the top 10.
Five traditional matches are on the schedule Saturday.
