SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS | The Alabama A&M University bowling team finished in a four-way tie atop the eight-team field on Sunday as the Bulldogs concluded play at the SWAC Round-Up at the Astro SuperBowl.
Alabama A&M went 2-1 during Sunday’s final round, finishing with a 5-2 record, tying Texas Southern, Alabama State and Prairie View A&M.
Texas Southern won the SWAC West Round-Up via the tiebreaker.
Southern went 4-8, followed by Jackson State (3-4), Grambling State (1-6) and Florida A&M (0-7).
HOW IT HAPPENED
– Alabama A&M began the day by defeating Prairie View A&M, 900-798
– In the second match, the Bulldogs defeated Jackson State, 920-871
– Alabama A&M closed out tournament play by falling to Texas Southern, 907-824
-The Bulldogs finished with four bowlers inside the Top 20
–Rose Ugbinada placed 10th, averaging 180.3 and finishing with a 1,262 total pinfall
–Montaya Walton claimed 17th at 1,195 total pinfall, while Tamyra Long recorded an 18th-place finish at 1,1876 pinfall
–Nariya Jackson finished 20th, registering a 1,176 total pinfall
-Nila Duclio, who finished fifth among SWAC freshman, posted a 710 and Megan Whorton rounded out individual scoring at a 402

Alabama A&M will take a week off before returning to the lanes as the Bulldogs will compete in the SWAC East Round-Up on Friday, Feb. 2 at the Cypress Lanes in D’lberville, Miss.
