Women's Bowling Returns to Action in CIAA Event II This Weekend


BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State women’s bowling team will begin the 2024 portion of the schedule Friday, Jan. 26 through Sunday, Jan. 28 at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event II hosted by Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C.

The three-day meet will be played at the Stars and Strikes Bowling Center located at 4020 Capital Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604.

Traditional team matches will begin at 10:40 a.m. on Friday and five-game Baker matches will commence at 8:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Last timeout, the Bulldogs (12-0) went through the Northern Division with a perfect 12-0 record, led by TaVera Johnson who spun a 196 against Virginia Union and a 192 against Virginia State during the opening day. She led day two with a total of 708 pinfalls including a game-high 206 before closing out the final day of the event with 212 game against Elizabeth City State. 

Additionally, Kamryn Smith was named the Bowling Rookie of the Month back in November. Smith led the Bulldogs with the newcomer highest average of 157.44. She had two high games of 193 and 196 for Bowie State. The Bulldogs went 12-0 for the weekend at CIAA Event I.
