Bulldogs Conclude Second Round at SWAC East Round-Up


D’IBERVILLE, Miss.| The Alabama A&M University bowling team concluded the second round of the SWAC East Round-Up on Saturday at the Cypress Lanes in D’lberville, Miss.

Alabama A&M went 4-1 during Saturday’s round and entered Sunday’s final round with a 5-5 overall record, and in the fourth position, tied with Texas Southern and Jackson State.

Southern enters tomorrow in the top spot after going 5-0 on Saturday, giving them a 9-1 tournament record.

Alabama State and Prairie View A&M are both in the runner-up position with 7-3 records entering tomorrow.

Grambling State and Florida A&M posted 1-9 records.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alabama A&M began the day defeating Texas Southern, 896-847, as Rose Ugbinada recorded a 193 pinfall.

-In the second matchup, the Bulldogs posted a 976-698 victory over Florida A&M.

-AAMU’s lone loss of the day came at the hands of Southern, dropping the match 1,021-974.

-Alabama A&M closed out the afternoon with victories over Grambling State (944-781) and rival Alabama State (1,022-822).

-AAMU finished round one with three bowlers inside the Top 20.

-Ugbinada paced the Bulldogs, averaging 198.2 and finishing with 1,988 total pinfall, placing her seventh overall.

Montaya Walton, after two rounds, is 14th with an 1,881 total pinfall, while Nilia Dulcio is sitting in the 19th position after posting a 1,813 pinfall.

-Naryia Jackson tallied a 1,463 pinfall after five matches, while Tamyra Long finished with 1,380.

-Khia Shiffman-Ratliff recorded a 322, Megan Whorton and Alexis Orchard rounded out Alabama A&M at 168 and 132, respectively

 

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs return to the lanes on Sunday with the second day of the SWAC East Round-Up. Matches will begin at 9 a.m.
