Men 38th, Women 48th in 55th Bowling Hoosier Classic


Indianapolis, Ind. — Both of the Aquinas College bowling programs made way to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 55th Hoosier Classic held at the Western Bowl. Both teams took to the lanes for the two day event spanning the weekend (Feb. 10-11). The lanes were packed for the Classic as 144 total teams competed in the competition. The men placed 38th of 78, while the women placed 48th of 66. 

The Classic was composed of six team games and 15 Baker games. After all the games were finalized and the pins were totaled, the top eight teams competed in a bracket style tournament. 

After all the pins had settled, WHAC competitor Lawrence Tech came away victorious in the bracket and took home the overall victory.

For the team games the AQ men shot, 895, 874, 1057, 999, 954, 945, with a team total of 5724. For the bakers: 202, 136, 167, 163, 162, 148, 212, 165, 189, 168, 156, 176, 227, 151, 177, for a Baker total of 2599, resulting in an overall total of 8323.

On the women’s side, Wichita State was the team left standing after the finalization of bracket play.

The AQ women’s team games results were 806, 872, 856, 784, 768, and 890, totaling for 4976. The Bakers were 117, 134, 160, 164, 131, 171, 213, 191, 175, 244, and 185, giving a Baker total of 2544, totaling an overall of 7520.

Both bowling programs will be back in the lanes on Saturday (Feb. 24) for the WHAC Championships.
